The British Taekwondo Council Ltd (BTC) is recognised by UK Sport and Home Country Sports Councils as the National Governing Body for Taekwondo in the UK.
The BTC exists to ensure the safe delivery of Taekwondo through all its Member Organisations. This is effected by BTC Registered Instructor training which includes Code of Conduct and Ethics; Health and Safety, including Risk Assessment; Safeguarding; Insurance and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
The BTC’s policies and procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure compliance with current regulations and best practice guidelines. BTC is licenced via Sport England to offer Clubmark accreditation, which assures current and prospective members that policies and procedures are actively in place in Member Organisation’s clubs. BTC has achieved NSPCC Advanced Standards for Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport.
BTC Ltd undertakes a continuous review, through Self Assurance, of its governance, policies and procedures to ensure it is fit for purpose to funding partners. The BTC, through its Member Organisations and together with British Taekwondo as part of Taekwondo Organisations Ltd (TOL), is committed via its 2013-17 Strategy to increasing participation in Taekwondo. This increase is sustained through the effective delivery of safe Taekwondo, which is facilitated by professional coach training and on-going club development.
